A Special Type of Biograhy for A Teacher

My Teacher Is Building A Highway!

One busy morning, I am very concerned of myself I felt cold while perspiring sitting along the lobby of the school. I didn’t know what to do and very worried. It was the first day of the class when I had nothing to pay for my tuition. A notebook and a pen were all that I brought. My heart beat faster when the minute hand of the clock pointed sharply at 7:30. The first subject class had started. I still didn’t have money to pay. Until such time, our accountant Ma’am Jingjing lent me a money just to pay only the registration fee. Consequently, I came late in the first subject.

As I opened the door named 301 in the annex building, I met a gentle fine lady who stood up with well-combed short hair and a three-layered belly in a blue blouse paired with dark blue skirts and black shoes. I sat down at the back portion and she’s talking about what is love. Few minutes passed and I built my first impression to her. “She’s gonna be a passionate strict one!” passionate because she moves acts pleasantly and some motions are elegant. She’s strict because I felt afraid when I saw her comparing to my strict teacher in high school.

During orientation program, I saw her again and, I started to like her. That time, I joined her reciting the poem of a teacher. She defines well the importance, task and what should a teacher be together with other teachers. I lend my ears to her and I realized teacher is a living masterpiece of God. I asked my classmates for her name. And, we call her Ma’am Dodil. Oh, what a name! This is uncommon to me. So, I never forgot her whenever the clock pointed at 9:00 in the morning of Tuesday and Thursday. Our subject was shifted to Philippine Literature from Philosophy of Man. Also, our room was shifted from annex to room 201 in the main building. During her class, I saw a model of nationalism. Her modes also shifted that is, different from what she is outside the classroom. She’s very nationalistic. That’s I can say when she used to explain different topics of Philippine Literature in front of us. Her lecture was very detailed that it took 10-15 minutes to discuss a certain subtopic just to make us understand. I saw her effort. She is really a teacher!

One day of the semester, we became dancers portraying a culture in Surigao. I never thought that simple ethnic dance only for our subject that we have practiced had presented thrice, one in STI Surigao auditorium, in convention Center and during the launching of “Boto mo! Ipatrol mo!” here in the city. It’s very enjoyable when you become one of thousands of nationalistic individual here in the Philippines.

I then idolized her. Her concern to her students was very amazing. She helped for qualified students and suggested different good ways on how to pass her subject. Why I can say so? This is because it’s funny to say, right now she’s talking to a graduating student who really needs her help.

As the semester ended up, Ma’am Dodil to me is a part of my accomplishments. I experienced a lot this whole semester with her. She contributed to the process of pursuing my dreams.
